Financial services group Wealth Today will continue to role out its financial advice 'Academy' until the end of the year following a good response to recent courses on the East Coast

In addition to Melbourne and Brisbane, courses will soon be offered in Sydney. The Academy qualifies brokers to give limited financial advice.

Its recent Brisbane course was sold out with the training provider putting this down to brokers realising "they must diversify in order to stay in business".

In May, following the launch of the Academy, Tony Pennells, managing director of Wealth Today, said brokers need to move down the path of becoming the advisory equivalent of the "general practitioner".

"The broker of the future will need to diversify, not out of desire, but to reduce the dependency on the banks for their revenue and to be a full industry professional," Pennells said.
